I watched a documentary once on big snakes and they said that as your pet python grows it actually sizes you up ready to go for the kill once it feels it is possible..Pythons will ofetn go for a dog or cat or even consider a small child if it feels like it can tackle the prey..Why on erth would somebody want to keep one ..They are wild creatures and should remain that way

For sure, Icy. Hope they haven't got any small pets. Might find them down the thing's gullet one day.
Actually, we think that's where my GDD's cat Tipsy went, Sprinkles.
Tipsy was the most gorgeous kitten, white with ginger tips. He was loving and craved human attention, and he got it. Such a spoiled cat. He 'd only just grown into young adulthood when he disappeared, never to be seen again. The made up some story about him being catnapped because he was gorgeous to the distraught little girl.
Son-in-Law was grumpy 'cos they'd only just had him "done".

Could well be, Icy. Poor little thing would have been easy to swallow even for quite a small python. Obviously your relations live near bushland. Sad.
