Brain workouts

Welcome to brain workouts. For those of you tired of my ufo claims here is some exercises for your brain. The first person to submit the answer and an explanation of how you worked it out is the winner. Simply guessing which one it is wont cut it. You must explain how you came to the conclusion.

Puzzle #1

A wine merchant has six barrels of wine and beer containing: 30 gallons; 32 gallons; 36 gallons; 38 gallons; 40 gallons; 62 gallons

Five barrels are filled with wine and one with beer. The first customer purchases two barrels of wine; the second customer purchases twice as much wine as the first customer.

Which barrel contains beer?

2 lots of wine,one being double the amount means the quantity should be divisible by 3. The only way I seem to be able to manage that is to exclude the 40 gallon barrel,so my answer is the 40 gallon barrel contains the beer.

Correct! 🙂

Customer #1 bought 2 barrels @ 66 gallons wine => 30 + 36

Customer #2 bought 3 barrels @ 132 gallons wine => 32 + 38 + 62

Barrell of Beer = 40 Gallons

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Yay! I might add I'm no mathematical genius.Took me a while:)

Okay here is another brain workout.

Puzzle #2

Mr Carter, Mr Butler, Mr Drover and Mr Hunter are employed as a carter, a butler, a drover and a hunter. None of them has a name identifying their profession. They made four statements:

1. Mr Carter is the hunter.

2. Mr Drover is the carter.

3. Mr Butler is not the hunter.

4. Mr Hunter is not the butler.

According to those statements, the butler must be Mr Butler, but this cannot be correct. Three of the four statements are untrue. Who is the drover?

Mr Carter is the Drover

Mr Butler is the Carter

Mr Hunter is the Butler

Mr Drover is the Hunter

T/F statement 3 is correct

and Mr Carter is the drover
