Curtain making question

Having just received a quote for having a curtain made (and after picking myself up off the floor) I'm now thinking I will make it myself.
As it's about 30 years since I last sewed curtains wondering if there are some flash new products (particularly gathering tapes) on the market that I should be looking out for?
Or any other suggestions to make the job easier. I'm quite confident I can do it, just wondering if I can do it more easily.

What fabric lurker?

Just a regular 100%cotton curtain fabric freddie. I'll need to line it too.

There are any number of header tapes Lurker. You can choose rod pocket, gathering or pleating. Just stitch on and pull the threads to adjust the width. You can also buy any number of different hooks.

You can also buy an iron tape for hemming.

You can get all of these at spot  light (sorry not usre if I am allowed to name them).

Just take your window width and drop (length) to your fabric shop and they will work out how much you need for the seams, hems and headers.  Really easy.

Lurker, you can buy fabric that is already lined.

If you have one near, go to your local Spotlight. They do curtains at a really reasonable price.

Much smarter than my suggestions Martini and a whole heap easier.

Thanks Jean. I've used gathering and pleated tapes before, I just wondered if there is anything new on the market.
I have chosen the fabric so I will need lining.

I'm going to give Spotlight a call tomorrow to see if they carry that fabric range so will ask about making costs at the same time.

Yep, the continuous type that you just cut and hem the sides. They come with all the tapes attached.  Spotlight have good prices on clearance curtain fabrics and often have good catalogue specials on continuous curtain products.
