Good afternoon all.
Nice work with the cupcakes Tas. I am in the middle of making hot cross buns,(without the cross lol). So far it is not going all that well.Second proving atm, so I will see how it goes. Something wrong with the recipe I think, not enough flour. I will amend it if I attempt it again. grrr. We may be eating fruit bullets later today. 😞

Hey Katy ... ![]()
We've been making the buns as well, the first lot by hand and they were sort of okay (minus the crosses as well).
We made the dough for the second lot in the breadmaking machine and oh what a difference, especially as it does the first rising. Just tossed all the ingredients in and let it go, then shaped the dough, let rise for another 20 minutes and baked in the oven. "Hot happy buns" instead of "hot cross buns" .... ![]()

Mum has a bread making machine which she no longer uses. I might snag it and see if it works well for buns.

I think I may end hot and cross too. The dough is too sticky and I spend half my time cleaning off the hands and tap handles. lol.

That would be a great experiment Katy, it really does work, takes about an hour and a half to knead and rise, then it's easy to watch them cook in the oven once you've shaped them on the tray and let them rise for another 20 minutes. With ours, we just tossed in everything and pressed "dough".

I don't like the dough crosses either. Next time though, we might just pipe some plain icing on when the buns are cold.

Hello to every one
Hope you all had a good easter and didnt get sick from eating too much chocolate.
Just started teaching #2 granson to drive, I thought the last one would be the last and finding it is really a chore sitting there mindlesly driving around in circles.
We have just over 2 hours down and 73 to go.

Hello Hawk xxx
You are going to remember teaching the grandson to drive forever you know ...
... just think of it as being more elliptical than circular and all part of a cosmos that does the same thing but on a much grander scale.
What a lovely grandfather to do that.

As for chocolate? ... nah! One marshmallow bunny, that was it for me, very tiny. I bit his head off first ... ![]()

Hi Katy, Tas, Hawk
Just popped in to say good night, getting cooler in N Z now, not looking forward to winter.
Looks like I may have another holiday some where warm again this year.
