Herbs seem to like to get hot, dry out, get hot , dry out etc - rather like the Mediterranean climate I think, so daily watering of the pots - particularly in Summer, is vital.
Another good thing about pots, particularly with things like mint - it keeps them where you put them, as opposed to taking over your lawn or whaetever when you're not looking!

To me a huge terra cotta pot is too big for me to lift when full of potting mix and plants - maybe about 75cms high or so.

I have a parsley plant in a terracotta pot and it has hardly grown since I put it in there. I bought a another one and put it in the garden and it has grown big.

i think terracotta pots and terracotta in general are beautiful.

Thinking of getting a few herbs in pots. Do they need protection from snails and slugs or is the aroma of the herbs enough to keep them away?
