They deliberately lied and deserve to be given a heaps especially by Australia's youth who now know that this Government cares so much about them that they plan to see some without the means to live..as they had mentioned in 2010.Though that was not part of the promises they voted on...who would vote for that ?

Mr Abbott says youth must study (there are not many jobs available for school leavers that don't require at least a Certificate qual) and yet they are going to be worse off under his Govt if they do so - much higher uni fees, change to an interest rate on loan, cuts to education & training.

No wonder the students are revolting. Graduate salaries are not that high. A lot of graduates wont even get a job in the field they studied. A $80 000+ student loan they can't pay back if they cant get a job, which is also has interest added to it every year (6%?).

I hope those who become medical specialists, scientists, IT gurus etc go and work and live overseas permanently and never pay back their student loans, as that is what the current Govt is pushing them to do.

We can have sub-standard Drs from overseas working in our hospitals and medical centres instead.

That man has lost the plot. If he and the rest of his party can't see the BIG issue for Uni students is the much higher fees plus the interest rate, rather than some very minor changes that won't even affect the majority of students then no wonder they get mobbed.

Increasing the capacity for students at a Uni isn't all it is cracked up to be either...unless the Uni builds more buildings to accommodate the extra students in. It is nothing new either, The Labor party did the same. The Uni I went to had its capacity increased by 3000 students one year. We were crammed in any little room ( ones with no windows, no heating) in any faculty building after that happened.
( it could take more than 10 minutes to walk from one class to the next and not be able to get there before it started). Previously no classes were held over the lunch hour, this changed after they increased the capacity, to fit in more classes. Could be there for 5 hours with only 5 min break between each class.

Here is a different news story on the same protest.

....Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Scott Ryan, brushed off the protest on Saturday morning.

Pyne said: ....."I'm calling on Bill Shorten today to come out today and make it very clear that he does not endorse in any way the students' behaviour and that he condemns it in exactly the same terms that I have condemned it on behalf of the Government."

Shadow treasurer Chris Bowen has questioned why Mr Pyne has sought to drag the Labor Party into the issue.

"Seriously, Christopher Pyne needs to grow up. There's no place for violent protest in Australia, but violent protest is the fault of violent protesters," Mr Bowen said.

"But for Christopher Pyne and the Liberal Party to try and score political points out of this is nothing short of pathetic."

....Ridah Hassan, from Sydney University's student representative council, was at the protest and has labelled Mr Pyne's accusations "outrageous".

"I think what happened at Sydney University yesterday had [no] more jostling than the average bus. Maybe Christopher Pyne has never been on a bus

.... "Julie Bishop kind of just like looked bemused, she didn't look shameful at all, she looked proud of what she was doing."

The students vowed to return in bigger numbers on May 21 for the national day of action to defend education against fee deregulation.

Ms Bishop confronted a similar incident on Friday morning at an event at the University of Technology in Sydney.

There are some pretty horrible accusations in the above, would it be possible for these accusations to be backed up with some facts?
