My present home was originally built to be a private B&B type small hotel thing and when my wife and I bought it it was in bad need of reno works to bring it up to being something worth living in after being empty for a couple or so years.
We found all sorts of bits and pieces tucked away in weird and winderful niches, but none of it worth a real mention beyond some old newspapers dating back a fair few years.
I still have them tucked away in one of my sheds somewhere as I found the adverts very amusing regarding the prices of items on offer from that time.
I lve digging around old homes and properties because I love discivering even the most minor histories of the places.
I also love wondering around very old graveyards reading headstones etc.
Sounds morbid I know, but you can learn a lot about the history of the area from graveyards believe it or not.
