Apparently this qualifies as a gaffe. Well, it did to some when Bill Shorten made a similar comment a few minutes after this one in the same interview.

TONY ABBOTT: Just want to say that should the Reserve Bank lower interest rates today that will be welcomed but that obviously is a matter for the bank.

SAMANTHA HAWLEY: It is a matter for the bank but its board doesn't meet today. It meets next Tuesday. It always meets on the first Tuesday of the month.

A journalist reminded Mr Abbott that the inflation figures were out today, not a Reserve Bank decision on interest rates.

is there anything about Tony Abbot as a prime minister that isn't a gaffe.  he is the fitting leader of a disgraceful government.
