I agree Crikey.
Frances Abbott's legal stoush over a rental property
The chairman of a Sydney design college has insisted he had no part in awarding a prestigious scholarship to Frances Abbott, the daughter of Prime Minister Tony Abbott, but conceded he "probably" mentioned she would be a good candidate for it.
Les Taylor, a noted Liberal Party donor and long-time friend of Mr Abbott, is the chairman of the board of governors of the Whitehouse Institute of Design.
As the daughters were used as an election tool for the liberal government I see no problem with discussing matters relating to them.

if it had have been Grant Hacketts wife, Hazel Hawke or Wally Lewis' wife, Prince Harry's girlfriend etc - they too would receive the same scrutiny.
However, it appears that they refrain from drawing unwanted attention to themselves, but if they do/did, they would not go unnoticed

He's not the PM's partner anyway. He's the ex-ex PM's partner.

Did he get the boot or did he bail?

Deb - relax
I couldn't really care less.
I bet Paris Hilton's video still gets commented on, and that was years ago
and Mrs Bjelke Peterson's scones are still commented on even today
That's public life.

no wonder Geoff Shaw isn't happy, I think they lied to him about his anti abortion bill
but they do need him to keep their balance of power.
interesting times in Vic
oh & Crikey I am very relaxed as always, thanks for caring

People make telephone calls every day...it is WHO made this call that is the point. If it was Mr Nobody that made this it would not made the news.I agree wholeheartedly, and once you have your 15 minutes of fame, you need to be conscious of everything you do as it is and will be scrutinized.
He didn't shun the lifestyle available to him because of his position, he lapped up the benefits
That has nothing to do with the issue of whether politiciians family should be dragged into the news every time they bang the phone down or have a cigaretter out side a nightclub...especially when their family member is no longer holding a public position.
There are benefits /perks of being family member of a PM nothing wrong with takiing up those offered. That mean your privacy needs to be invaded for the rest of your life.
Partner of a PM (two PM's ago) slams down the phone.. who needs to know that. It is not against the law to do so.
