I still like good table manners, but I don't think I'm as draconian about it as my parents and grandparents were.

My children all know that if I put my four fingers under my chin and tap twice the person I'm directing the motion at is eating like a cow, this person instantly clamps shut! Lol

I looked for some sugar tongs whilst I was out, but I couldn't find any....

i wouldn't have lived past 5 with many of those rules,lol! we DID have a couple,mainly the no elbows,don't talk with your mouth full,and chew with your mouth closed.
being lefthanded,i was always seated at the end of the table,so i wouldn't knock other people's elbows.
