we never get cold calls because we don't give away our adress for fly buys & co.

If you have already done that and get cold calls all the time, you could get a new phone number and don't give it to people other than your friends/family.

How ridiculous, but I think you know that.

At a minimum, about 30 companies/utilities/businesses have to have your number, and the numbers are onsold, even when they are unlisted.

Today I told a woman (who rang not having a name who she wanted to talk to) that if she rang again I would see that she lost her job. (Aren't I horrible)

Another woman who had my name (I have a silent number) said she was told to say she got the number from white pages online.   I called her a liar.

After I registered for the do not call number I had great pleasure in telling the cold callers I was going to report them and their company would be fined $15,000 (it used to be)

Mr Elephant answers with "Chow Ling Chinese Restaurant. Can I take your order?"

I got trapped by one of those win a holiday to Paris things, just enter a few of your favourite pastimes to go in the draw. Don't forget your ph and email addy. Next thing I get all these calls and emails from book sellers, cruise operators and beauty product floggers. Never again 😠

Icey those people sell your phone number and email address to the world 🙂

They really are pests aren't they. I hate it when they say they are not trying to sell me anything. No of course not.

I would get a new no. except we are self employed and would miss calls from customers.

Katy, definitely put your number on the DO NOT CALL Register.

It doesn't eliminate all but around 80%.

Apparently charities can still call even if on the register.

My mum has the same problem as you Katy.

She was telling me today she recieved a call the other day there was the usual pause then a voice came through and she new it was from OS.  She bluntly said "what do you want?"

They replied "You dont sound very happy"

she said "well I'm sick of these calls I'm getting all the time"

They then replied "Do you enjoy being a b*tch to people that call you?"

Shocked she replied "Yes"

Then then said "I dont like your tone of voice" and hung up in her ear. She never even found out where they were calling from.

LOL I thought that was funny...
