Lol, sometimes if I do answer I say exactly the same thing.

 

The callers can sometimes be very cheeky. I pay the phone bill, so I choose to whom I speak. Some are just doing a job, others are scammers, but they all want something from me. 

i screen most calls through my machine,but when i do need to pick up the phone,i answer with either"top hat bar and grill" or "acme aeronautics".

and my machine answers in japanese,so i rarely get messages either. 

i used to BE a telemarketer(don't kill me,please!), i don't like them either. didn't like the job much,but it was a living. 

I vary my response between a coach's whistle, and an air horn..........

before we had the machine,hubby would answer the phone,listen for a few seconds and the make the fax machine sound. they hung up FAST!:D

The last cold call I got was trying to sell me some cooking file cards ***with a free file***. I said that I rarely used recipes and had all the recipe books I would ever need already and there were recipes for everything available on line.

She said if I didn't want it, I could give it to a friend. Yeah, right, what a gift.

She kept going, so I asked her about recipes ... what was her favorite recipe, what cuisine did she like best, what would she do to Brussels sprouts to liven them up ...

She hung up on me.

I totally understand that some callers are just doing a job. Not a very fulfilling one I imagine, but pays the bills. I try to remember to carry my phone with me when I am moving around the house or yard but sometimes I forget. When I do have to hurry to answer the phone and it is someone trying to sell something or a scammer I get annoyed. I have a very elderly mother, so ignoring the phone is not an option.

 

I did register with the do not call thingo last night, so might cut down a few.
