Burning MP4 to DVD?

I have some MP4 files on my PC that I want to burn to DVD so I can watch them on the TV. I have googled and can see that it can be done, but most of the instructions seem to be in computer speak which I am not fluent in 😞
Can someone explain the process to me in plain English please?

what burning software do you have?

what version of windows are you using?

do you have a cd burner or a dvd burner?

I'd have to kick himself off the PC to look properly, but as far as I know. I only have what came with the machine I.e., MovieMaker (I think it's called), Windows7, and no idea 😞

ok, I don't have windows 7 so I don't know what it's burning tool is like.

In the old days you needed a proper burning program like Nero. You would select the files you wanted to burn, and the output method (e.g. dvd movie file) It would convert  the files to something the dvd player would recognise and create (burn) the cd.dvd

i have windows moviemaker and use it to make family dvds.

Its pretty easy to use

Mine looks like this. Is this what yours looks like?

Thanks ddb, it was actually DVD maker I was thinking of but it said it didn't support that type of media. I'm downloading Windows MovieMaker now. I'll see how that goes.
