Funny, I was just watching Family Fued on channel 10 the other night and the question was about the reward for a good report card.

Top answers were not too materialistic at all ... things like gold star, sticker, hug, chocolate frog.

The answers from the panel were things like holiday, money and puts hand up for thinking Game. (Electronic and expensive)

That is more or less what I'm concerned about.  

Some children are starting to expect rewards for actions.

"I'll give you a chocolate if you visit grumpy old Grandad with me".  "And when you turn 17 he might give you a car."

Jelly beans for children, BJ's for husbands....... positive reinforcement for good behavior works!.....

I gave my son a chocolate frog each time he did a number two on the loo for his first 5.

After that, no more frogs and he was fine with that
