that would be great for our birds, they love maggots, it would have to stay in the shed though.

Wow!!  A diet of blowies.............

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw a documentary one time, that showed a tribe of natives, eating flys because they were so high in protein.  I guess if you're starving and need something to keep you alive, you will do most anything.  But I sure can't imagine eating flys or even fly larve.

I actually bought an apple peeler/corer/slicer last week..............worked like a champ.  I peeled sufficient apples for an apple cobbler, and the next morning peeled a couple more to make apple fritters, using yet another "superfluous"  appliance, a Fry Daddy............

I have an apple peeler/corer.  I don't use it often, but it's one of those things, that when you do need it, really comes in handly.  As far as a Fry Daddy.  I had one years ago and they are nice if you are frying a small amount of things.  But I used it so infrequently, that the grease would go rancid on me.  Now if I want to deep fry something, I use a small pot and my spider.

I dispose of the oil after each use...........I tried straining it and refrigerating, but it just didn't work.  This was my first use of the F/D in over a year.
