my new mattress has the latex top, they say you only need the top few inches of latex. It's comfy enough. I'm quite happy with it. 

Thanks muggsy - there are so many kinds and I feel tired thinking about wandering round the stores let alone actually doing it.  There are a few advertised on ebay and I am even thinking of buying one here - even if it doesnt last too long.

I need a new mattress too... 😞

You can't beat a Sealy IMO.

Rosie, you could try one of those mattress toppers first.  I bought one ages ago and I love it.  It's turned a mattress that was a little firm into a big snuggly cuddly place that seems warm just after I get into bed.  

I hate shopping for mattresses ... it might feel lovely as you lie on it in the shop for 10 minutes, but you get no idea how it's going to feel the morning after.  And, they're SO EXPENSIVE.  

Have just bought a topper - will see how that goes.

not sure about other states but my daughters friend works the store that has Denise Drysdales face on their ads BM the one with a Z at the end and they are having another 50% off sale very shortly.

personally I have found my bed slats needing replacing and not the mattress 🙂

Some people find a latex mattress to hot to sleep on.

I have purchased a memory foam topper - will see how that goes and if it is ok to sleep on can get a full mattress later on,
