Oh good someone intelligent to talk with.
The flag incident was by a Chief Bronaugh of Maywood, Illinois. I believe he is in “what we here call a bucket load of sh... over it.
As you, I’m am aware that, when it comes to what is commonly referred to as "political correctness", it is more often than not the product of an interpretation overzealous individual attempting to service their own agenda, and not a matter of public policy.
Unfortunately there are some here, who are blind to that fact. Take for instance the post, ”A reminder is in order: Australian state run schools are secular and are guided by Federal laws regarding religious equality.” which could be interpreted to mean the decision by some states to ban voluntary attendance at lunch time religious instruction in state schools satisfies a legal requirement, where as it is simply a matter of Departmental policy. That is unlike in the US, whereas by law religious instruction in state funded schools is specifically excluded, here it is a matter of Departmental policy
Oh and just for the record, I personally am against religious instruction in all state funded schools. And am particularly anti our Federal Government’s decision to reintroduce school chaplains, to provide services which could be far better performed by someone better qualified, e.g. a qualified social worker.
