I have three feet of blown-in insulation over the ceilings.  To get up there, I actually have to climb a tunnel..........but once up there, I can stand upright over the center of the house.

TCM   I LOVE the look of those lights but something hanging down like that would drive me nuts  .... My kitchen ceiling is a standard height as the old ceiling was replaced at sometime. It's still there aboove the current ceiling, I would have loved to have ripped the current ceiling down and used the old ceiling, but it was just too expensve.  My bedrooms and loungeroom have 10 foot ceilings, which I love. Haven't started renovating them yet, am choosing paint colours for the loungeroom at atm,  My house is a worker cottage, it's approx 100 yrs old and need a total overhaul which I knew when I bought it, just going to take time and $$$$

V J ceilings = a lot of work..... but worth it....

oh,that's pretty! it reminds me of the ceiling of the beachhouse my family used to rent on cape cod for a few summers. i loved that place,it had GIGANTIC windows with gingerbread trim on them.

i have high ceilings too,but just plaster. someday i'll finish the library ceiling, with an astronomy art piece on the ceiling...sigh..someday...

The only place I have hanging lights is in the formal dining and formal lounge. Every where else needs to be more practical.....in my

home. Gorgeous lamps can add mood lighting.... and easily changed/moved around.

you know the old victorian homes you see around the world, sometimes they are called painted ladies? the sort of lacy trim you see inside and out was called gingerbread trim in new england, where i grew up.

let me see if i can find a pic for you...i'm talking about the really ornate edges, the carved scrollwork, things that that.

back in a bit!
