How do you think the vote will go, Electric?

Looks like Salmond is fond of the Scotch himself.     Smiley Surprised

It  will never happen icyfroth.

a bit off topic but the reason I don’t shorten your ID is that some like to BP for that, go figureRobot Frustrated

That's ok re shortening my name, lightning, I'll answer to either.

Re the Scotland seperation, the referendum will be interesting tomorrow.

Ten Things To Know About Scotland's Independence Referendum

"It will never happen icyfroth."

How can you say that? Unless you are privy to some information that doesn't see to be available here in Scotland? All the polls are extremely close, one I saw yesterday less than 1%, with almost all pundits (other than extremists from both sides) saying it's far too close to call.
It's an extremely complex and complicated question and is/will not be decided on purely party political lines.

Yes Katy, tomorrow we will be in the Inverness area, which I suspect might be more Yes influenced given their Highland history.

No Edinburgh rock, but I've seen it everywhere. Haven't been game to try the haggis yet either :-). Otherwise the food has been fabulous.

Yes, going to England in about 10 days. But not to Wales, Paris instead :-). We had 12 nights in Ireland before here

(Those who know me will understand I ticked a bucket list item yesterday. Played golf on St Andrews 🙂 )

As English, I started out as in favour of Scotland staying within the UK union.  But in the last week or so I have changed my mind - I think they should go. They are more trouble than they are worth. And the English are getting pretty fed up with this noisy whinging minority 8% of the UK.  Amazingly, they have just been offered yet more bribes by the politicans (at the rest of the UK's expense) to try to persuade the Scots to stay. The English backlash is already starting:

plus lots of reader comments...

For what it's worth the betting odds are firmly in favour of Scotland staying within the UK...

Leaving UK: about 4 to 1 against
Staying in the UK:  about 9 to 2 on (i.e. very likely)

Really? So why are the English so desperate for them to stay?

So what's with all the bribing?

"Britain’s relationship with the European Union could also be under threat in the event of Scottish independence. Without Scotland’s phalanx of left-leaning Labour lawmakers, Westminster would likely be dominated by David Cameron’s Conservative Party, which favors a referendum on British withdrawal from the E.U."

Perhaps?

So which way will it go?

I'd hate to be a Scot at the moment. My heart would be saying YES! YES! YES! but my head would be saying  but....but....but......
