In war, the Coventry attack "makes sense" but until I learn different reasons for the attack on Dresden, it seems to me the Dresden attack was just a final "**bleep** you".
Don't get me wrong, I am glad the allies won the war, and appreciative of the contributions of those who acheived the outcomes they did, but I cannot help wondering if the end of WW1 were handled differently, ie, Germany was not left with a Treaty that resulted in hyperinflation, loss of pride, mass unemployment, no way to defend themselves etc, that maybe Germany would not have sought to assert their might and provide an environment for Hitler to prosper.
The people of Germany were at their lowest. Is it any wonder that when a charlatan came along offering them a way through that they did not embrace this?
This was a situation created by the Allies.
This was a situation that led to the invasion of Poland, and the consequent declaration of war on Germany
But who really is to blame for WW!!?
It is easy to blame the Germans, but from many angles it appears that "they were pushed" by the allies.
Thankfully, it seems that our world leaders have learned a bit about diplomatic relations, and such a scenario has so far failed to be repeated. These days, we seem to approach things differently. We can only hope that those methods achieve what is necessary without devestation.

Do you Julia?
I don't, most people I spend time with speak properly. There would be one or two spoken words commonly misused that I would be itching to correct if I heard them.

Sometimes I have to bite my tongue really hard when people use aks instead of ask. It really annoys my sensitive ears and I wonder how anyone can go through life not knowing basic words but facebook and newspaper sites do my head in more. I just love it when people are arguing over education, rules/laws, driving, employment or govt and they can't spell or string a sentence together in any comprehensible form.

You wouldn't tell a blind person to watch where there going or a person in a wheel chair how to walk would you?
Did I say or give any indication that I would?
The answer is no. I did not.
I do tell the children to watch where they're going. I do assist a couple of others (at their request) who are using the internet to improve their spelling. I do correct the children when they mispronounce or spell incorrectly because they're leaners and need to know when they get it wrong.
Do you object to that?
