thanks Blue I also think you don't need a text book for decorating, my advice is to do your own thing, your home, do it the way you like & surround yourself with the things you like.

as freddie will find, once you own a home it sort of never ends, you always find something that needs doing or fixing or changing

Those memories you will always have to look back on Deb the fun times of home renovation the successful projects and the disasters.

Blue, I think that flowers fruit and foliage in the plaster ceiling roses all have a meaning ( from Victorian times).  That one in the lounge room has pineapples in it Woman Surprised

yes pineapples, I wonder what they symbolise,? I looked it up somewhere once but I've forgotten

that's true Freddie, we have a lot of both of  those

Lovely ceiling rose, debra

I feel like eating pikelets now, after reading lloyd/debs post. Adding pineapple to the mix is a good idea.

thanks Am its a fiddly thing to paint though

I think it was Bushies back there who saidshe's no good at making scones but makes excellent pikelets.

I am the same

We had grapevines on our ceiling. Hmmm, I don't mind a flass of wine or two - especially those with bubbles. It was an old Edwardian house with beautiful features but my parents were to busy fighting to take care of it so it decayed and was eventually replaced by four units.

My house was built in the 50's and was built weel - except for the laundry and whoever decided that it was a good idea to put the shower where it is needs a good talking to.

My former ex was not much into home maintenace etc and most of the gardening, handyman work and decorating was done by me. Until I broke my ankles which has resulted in me being fairly limited with what I can and cannot do. Everything that former ex did was nearly always pretty poorly finished - if it was finished at all. The current ex accumulated lots materials for various projects he was going to do and a number of things were sort of iniitiated but never progressed. Although, what he did complete was always of a high standard.

So, my house - especially the outside needs a lot of work done to it which I'm hoping to have completed within 6 months.

I'm off to have lunch with my mums group. We've been getting together since we all had our first-borns. My eldest just turned 29.

Purrrrrrrrrrr ... I feel like a cat after milk and stroking.

The kebabs ... red onion, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, lamb chunks ... topped with a mix of olive oil, lemon juice, rosemary, basil and garlic ... placed on skewers, and cooked in the turbo oven.

When they were cooked, I took them out and heated up the pita bread.

While that was cooking, I made a side salad of beetroot, coriander and a little bit of the meat dressing. The kid said it was the "oddest" salad he'd ever seen. Tasted good, though.

Yum! Sounds delicious.
