http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Farm,_QueenslandThat is a pretty pitiful look at New Farm ... the place is stacked with restaurants, cafeterias, patisseries, gelato places, pizzerias ... there is an awesome butcher, a green grocer ... everything you need to live. You can buy your toilet rolls at Coles/Woolies (can't remember which). Further up towards Fortitude Valley, there is a market that sells exotic groceries, fruit and vegetables, fresh seafood.
It's foody heaven.
Aside from that, there's the park, the library, the river, the City Cat to the city ...
