Keep watching Customs on TV.   You might see a dog sniffing it.   Smiley Wink

Thanks paints. There is a cute little translate button up on the top right ;). You're right I would need a tracking number for that to be used.

I did find this page though, http://translate.google.com.au/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.laposte.fr/particulier/outils/suiv... which suggests we should have filled in some form of documentation but also gives me the impression it wouldn't be french authorities that need it, but the country of delivery.

So I think it's still sit back and wait to receive either the parcel or a letter from Customs.

I'll keep you posted 🙂

Yes, it is the country it gets to that needs it. It is so they can assess taxes (and for security, as the sender has to describe the contents). Most likely thing is customs here might hold it and send you a letter if there is any problem with the documentation.

I get my labels from France, they usually take about 10 days to arrive, parcels from the UK usually arrive within 5 days but one sent in February arrived 5 months later, no explanation.

It has arrived!!

It was here when we got home from our cup party yesterday. YAY 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thanks everyone for all your assurances and advice.

Yay!!!!

Was the item an art print in a tube? Parcels under 500gm being sent overseas from Australia don't need a custom form, if they are printed material/written correspondence.

You'll need to complete a customs form (available at your local post office) if your parcel:

  • contains anything other than written correspondence
  • contains items valued over $500
  • weighs more than 500g
