Hey annie or DDU is it clucky time again?? Spring?


I have 8 babies and 3 broody hens at the moment. Sadly, the fox has taken a couple of the chickens. So yeah .. it's baby chicken time 🙂

The don't sit on the straw when sick, they go stand in the yard .. you should see if you can get some fertilised eggs and put them under your chook.

(do you have a rooster?)

I'm thinking of getting some fertilised eggs when one of my chooks gets broody.

Ok, anyone have any tips to speed up a chooks biological clock?

Kevin's a good name for a rooster. I'm calling my next rooster ibish - maybe.

Yes I have a rooster he's a bit small for the hens as the last rooster was too big for the silky so when he died I opted for a smaller one. I've never seen him "on" a hen yet.. though he tries?

Oh yeah she's sitting on the laying shelf on the straw.

Umm we went to an auction today, it was a mortgagee auction, it didn't get a bid but we put an offer in after the hammer went down and it was passed in 😮

Go to a chook forum and buy yourself some fertilised eggs so you get non related bubbas ....

Well I got given some last year and the stupid hen sat on them for weeks and all I got was rotten eggs.
