We just don't have the religious and cultural traditions that go with it.
The only place in Aus that celebrates it is Norfolk Island and that is because of American ships that went there.
If people want to celebrate it, fine, go ahead but not a national holiday.

Halloween I can understand (even the Americanised version), but Thansgiving and the reasons behind it (both the reality and the popular myth) should remain uniquely American. I suppose there could be an equivalent but it would have to be without the American tradition back story.
