thanksgiving in Australia

Sarah Jane is on ABC news saying we should have thanksgiving here. Aren't we inundated with enough pseudo American culture already

We just don't have the religious and cultural traditions that go with it.

The only place in Aus that celebrates it is Norfolk Island and that is because of American ships that went there.

If people want to celebrate it, fine, go ahead but not a national holiday.

Halloween I can understand (even the Americanised version), but Thansgiving and the reasons behind it (both the reality and the popular myth) should remain uniquely American. I suppose there could be an equivalent but it would have to be without the American tradition back story.

The US is much more religious than Aus.

The Christian block !

I wonder if American Indians Celebrate thanks giving.

Or think of the days before the Boat People came hahaha

I don't need a 'day'. I give thanks every day that I live in this beautiful country.

That makes about as much sense as them commemorating Anzac Day. What silliness.

Who is Sarah Jane btw?

Some yank that is on the ABC mornings news show. I think she is there for any American news to provide a locals point of view, or something.

That is nonsense.

Hey, maybe you can celebrate our Independence day in July too. Why not add our President days too.

Geez.... What kind of ding dong would suggest such a thing?
