How often do you wash your inside dog?

I have specified 'inside' dog, as I imagine that people who have their dog inside would wash them more often than dogs that are outside.

I wash Fred on the weekend UNLESS he gets himself into a terrible mess (he loves to lie down in muddy puddles).  In between I will wash his paws if required and I have a towel at his dog door to wipe his paws on when he comes inside.

Today my friend told me she washes her TWO INSIDE dogs only once a month!

All I could think of was GROTTY!!!!!!

Fred is an inside dog, and apart from his walks/runs, he spends most of his time inside.  Sometimes he goes outside to sniff around, bathroom, lay in the sun in summer.

So I think once a week is reasonable!

Fred is also a long haired maltese X and does not drop hair at all.

Never!

No, I don't have a dog but I do know they should not be washed too often as it's not good for the natural oils and can cause skin irritations and smells.

When she gets really smelly or rolls in something stinky or if she is scratching constantly.  I can't be totally sure when I last washed Maggie (jack russell) 2+ months ago.

I personally think once a week is too much, like cherples said you strip the natural oils.

I find for thier feet a good mat at the door 'cleans' thier pads

I wash both of my wee ones when they need it.....average each month or so.  I find that wiping their feet. etc along with a daily brush does the job.  I do keep them clipped and that helps with their cleanliness.  I also brush their teeth weekly.

4 to 6 weeks for washing and clipping, brushing at least weekly

Blessed are the cracked, for they are the ones who let in the light.

Dogs don't need to be washed.  Inside dogs or outside dogs, why would you?

They aren't like humans that need a spray of lynx or a dab of perfume to get a mate. They look after themselves.  I can never understand people that wash cats.

I have a Labrador and he loves water so he washes himself any chance he gets.  In the fish pond is especially his favourite.  Gawd, it stinks!

"I also brush their teeth weekly." Why? a few bones a week will give a dog pearly whites, with no browning next to the gums.

Washing, my Basenjis (+6years) have never had a wash, apart from a hose-down when they have rolled on a dead something.

Once a week wash of a healthy dog is "animal cruelty".

My 2 inside dogs are washed and groomed monthly.  I agree, once a week is too much.

I own a puli. She is an inside dog and I wash her every two to three months weather permitting.

Because she has a corded coat she takes up to eight hours to dry and the whole process of cording washing, drying and cording again takes up pretty much the whole weekend. She gets a top and tail wash as needed between baths. Fortunately she doesn't get that doggie smell.
