Try different things to stop them eating your stuff.

Get the cages, catch them, bash them on the head and drop them on a main road.

The problem is too many possums - small numbers are ok but large numbers just overtake a garden,
Hence the extreme measures.

Agree, they should not be protected.

There are far more than the natural population should be. Thy are thmynahs of the animal world.

it is a shame they are protected, our council has cages to catch them in and then take them to another location, but take them and others take over, cant win.

Must admit, they havent eaten many of my roses this yr.

If the rangers catch them here they will realise them in the same area.  Some time ago we had one trapped in our chimney and the rangers came and removed it from the chimney and they took it away that morning and they came back that evening and released it on the tree out the front.

Which is pretty pointless.

Spray the zucchinies with garlic spray. This is one taste the possums don't like.

I had possums eat my roses and hated the thought of my roses smelling of garlic, but at least I could enjoy the flowers after the possums left them alone.

That just sounds viscious... Why drop them on the main road?

Possums are territorial and it's a shame to move them.

Hitting them over the head and dropping them on the road is not allowed.  We can't do that to the wildlife (or to immature boardies).

Joono

Garlic and onion in water.Boil and reduce.Strain and you've got something that'll get rid of aphids too.

Well you cant drop them in a rubbish bin, unless you want to get busted.

Drop them on a road and they look like road kill, ie that they were hit by a car the night before.

Possums are one case where the aw hasnt caught up with reality.

Luckily where i live we dont have possums.

Make it.

I think pepper or vinegar works on some things as well.
