The 24th Regiment of Foot fought a famous action at Rorke's Drift in 1879.........what was the regimental song?

Men of Harlech ?

Or is that just what they sung at the battle ?

No, and No.........

Scrap that, in all my study of this battle, I have never looked it up.

It's not Men of Harlech.

Was the song---Yankie...Doodle?..................................Richo.

LOL

I've never heard of the song and I was brought up not too far from there.

Was just a guess Aps---think it is spelt Yankee doodle-..................google it.....................Richo.

Although depicted in the movie "Zulu" as being the "South Wales Borderers", at the time of the action the 24 Regiment of Foot was called the "2nd Warwicksire" and its regimental march was  "Warwicksire Lads".
Although its home depot was moved to Wales in 1875, it didn't become a Welsh regiment until the name was changed in !881, and the song "Men of Harlech", so stirringly performed in the movie, at that time became the regimental ditty.........
