I agree lionrose. They are supplying to a market though.
My question is:
"Why do some people see the need to take Ice?" This need to escape the "real world".
And colic......"the baby down the drain" could have been juxtaposed with the Cairns incident.

Wouldnt the events need to be vaguely similar for a conclusion of some sort to be drawn from the responses?
I havent read much about the woman in Cairns yet, but I'm presuming the boot will get stuck into childrens services pretty hard at some point. Probably a bit like how the boots getting stuck into the NSW court system re bail being granted.
Eventually it will all come back to blaming the government.

Sadly, that is what ice seem to do to people; they become crazed and do not know what is a reality. We know that this drug is worse than anything before, we all agree (i assume) that it should not be available, but as all drugs, to eliminate it will be impossible. I do not know what is the answer. It is all just too heartbreaking.
Wonder if she actually remembers what she has done.

I saw that and wondered as well.
He may well have but he probably also had quite a few bullets in him from the Police as well.

Just read this mornings papers and it says police dont know if ice was involved, it said the women banned Alcohol, smoking and all technology in her house.
So as I said I will wait and see before I judge, I think she was suffering a mental illness.

Who knows nothing is clear yet and there are a lot of conflicting news reports about. If mental illness was a factor in what took place that still doesn't make it right, there is no excuse. The reality is she made a choice, a choice to cold bloodily murder her children by smothering them and stabbing the remaining kids(if reports are right). Her thinking may have been impaired but it doesn't matter the reality is she made a decision impaired or not to end the children's life and she will have to live with that. She can't undo her choice, she can't bring her kids back, she will have to live with the consequences of her decision impaired or not. Sadly I heard last night that police don't know if she understands the gravity of what she has done. Heartbreaking and worse that 8 children had their lives stolen early.
It's tragic and its happening all across Australia, an average of 27 children (according to reports) are killed every year. 27 children which means something needs to change....
As for people reacting differently I don't get that if this is mental illness and the other incident is mental illness then they should both be treated according to that mental illness and the circumstances surrounding that. We don't know the motivation for the mother murdering her children but the motivation for the other was clearly hate. How do you decide where choice ends and mental illness takes over? Both people were possibly clearly mentally tormented I have compassion for both in a way but not for what they did, both acts are equally as heinous.

if she was on ice then double shame on her.
No parent, regardless of gender, responsible for the welfare of their children has any right to be taking drugs.
Don't anyone bother with the 'drug addiction is an illness not a choice' spiel because taking that first hit is a conscious choice and everyone knows it will mess you up.

Just read a newspaper report that says police are dismissing claims of drug involvement but are looking into a religious aspect to the Cairns crime.

No, people do not believe that just one hit will mess them up. Most are already "messed up" anyway. But parents have no right to drink in excess, nor should they drink and drive, but people do. Because that is what their parents most likely do, and what their friends do, and they do not believe it is a problem. The same with taking drugs; I have seen people laughing when I told them that shooting up "recreationally" is extremely dangerous, and just because up till then they did not develop uncontrollable craving does not mean that they will not in future.
And yes it is illness, and it is sad that some people are incapable of empathy.
