I stopped in at Grocery Outlet here one day, and purchased a tin of some Mexican coffee for less than $4 (38 oz).  It was sooooooo tasty, I returned and bought out the store (another 36 tins)..........I recently ran out, and they have never replenished their inventory.

I use a French Press..........

this one

What was the name of it ? (the Mexican coffee)

For the life of me I can't remember, nor can I find an empty can around........I know it was imported by a distributor in Brownsville, Texas, and it had a really coarse grind.............But it was sooooooooooooo good.

The problem with Grocery Outlet is that you never know what they'll have in stock, because they sell dented goods, mis-marked items, and one-off products.  We even get Helmann's mayo here on the west coast.......

Re the waste from using the pods. I bought a pack of re-fillable pods and buy freshly roasted coffe from my local roaster. It's not as continent as popping in a new pod each time but no wastage and I get exactly the blend I want.

Oh, when I staggered in with armloads of coffee cans, the war department came a little unstuck...........but she has no problem buying enough chicken breasts to outfit a hen house, then freezing them, which leaves little room for my 18-count bags of popsicles, which Darwin now has an affinity for (except the grape ones)......

I must admit in Darwin I do know people who tend to buy stuff in bulk "when it is available" because of various reasons for running out !!!

Not as much of a problem now as say even 10 years ago !

Re the "Grocery Outlet", OK, don't worry, I didn't realise that was what they sold, sounds like the NQR stores down this way.

So, you live in Darwin?  That's the name of our parti-colored Cocker........

The principal reasons for my hoarding that coffee, was price and taste............if they'd had 100 cans available, I'd have gone whole hog, it was so good.

No, visit often and have done for years.

The way you wrote it is just like how it happens up there, something comes in, the word spreads and woosh, gone !

I am drinking a cup from my fabulous Aldi pod machine right now. I like my coffee and this is the best thing I have ever bought.

I too have the Aldi machine and love it and the coffee.

My daughter has the Nespresso one, and she is thinking of getting the Aldi one, as they have a huge variety of different pods.
