Good morning - back after a coffee and a shower and feel awake now Smiley Very Happy.

Had a quick read and it sounds like everyone is travelling well at the moment.

We were invited to a party last night but decided to stay at home and I was in bed by 11.  Tried to stay up for the fireworks but got too tired.

Renovations - we bought a new stove a few days ago and after it was installed, Frank actually sealed around the bottom of the tiles in the kitchen (been like it for years) and tidied up a few other things.  Looks good but ..... used the oven for the first time last night and it took twice as long to cook the recipe than usual.  This morning I checked the reviews and it seems this is a problem Smiley Sad  It's a Belling gas stove (not cheap) and their warranty service doesn't seem real good either.  What I am going to do is buy an oven thermometer and readjust my recipes to match the new oven and hope that works.  If it doesn't and they can't/won't help, I will contact fair trading.  Just sent the warranty away yesterday so they won't even have that yet.

Off for my walk now before it heats up any more.  Beautiful  morning here at the moment.  Enjoy the first day of the year ....

I was at my GF's, no parties in the court. Fell asleep watching PINK.

Woke up from the few fireworks at 12 and decided to go home.

What amazed me was how quiet the streets were. The odd party but most streets were dead.

My court was like a ghost town !

Not sure but it seems NY parties weren't as prevelant this year, lots of people stayed at home.

Hapy new year everyone.

I managed to stay up till 12.15 and see in the new year. Heard a few fireworks go off around here which always annoys me cos we're in the bush, lucky it wasnt a hot night.

Not looking forward to the next couple of days, I hate the heat.

Happy New Year everybody.

Aps: How could you fall asleep watching PINK?  What a performer, and the guitarist!

Quiet one all around here too. I didn't bother going to the display at The Entrance. In fact, due to the early start to the day and an angle grinder, and a jack hammer in my near vicinity no nana nap either; so went to bed early.

This morning I have seen the birdies bathing already which usually indicates a hot day to come.

In fact, I've seen so many varieties of birds here the last few days.  The pelicans using thermals, a sea hawk, of course the usual lally birds, lorikeets, topnotch and wonga pigeons, kookas, maggies and a couple of others that I had to research  (fan tailed cuckoo, a honeyeater of some sort, indian koel).

I heard a couple of owls at night.  And some whip birds, and bellbirds in the little forest up on the hill

I disturbed a tree s-n-a-k-e.Smiley Surprised

What is missing from the olde days, are the king parrots, galahs, and rosellas both eastern and red.

Morning,

*yawns* stayed up to watch the fireworks which were quite spectacular but not that exciting if you are not among it, woke early and went back to sleep and here I am - no walkies but if it's not too hot I will go later this afternoon.

We have hot water, so the new HWS is working - wonderful to have something work as it should.

Sandy how disappointing, i've got into the habit of reading reviews before I buy anything, it's just a shame the handyman didn't have a review Woman Sad I also ignore reviews which appear to be too flowery because I wonder if they are fake.

Humid again today, thankfully we have a lazy not much to do day.

Oh and Nic's dinner alone does that mean the new friend is no longer?

Freddie, I missed my vaccine for the gossip virus this season.

I can report that Nic's beau has travelled to parts unknown, but is still contactable by phone.Smiley Wink

Okay, I read Round Table.

This morning I have seen the birdies bathing already which usually indicates a hot day to come.

That reminds me I had better fill up my bird bath for them for the next couple of day hot weather.

I spent last night drinking champagne and finished watching season 4 of Sons of Anarchy. Parties were being held by a few neighbours. I was invited to one of them, which was sweet, but I didn't go. I'm much too self-absorbed at the moment plus I didn't want to leave my dog alone. She was sedated and took absolutely no notice of the fireworks. I ended up going to bed aroud 5am so am feeling a tad tired today.

My day will be spent on the couch watching season 5 of SoA.

Afternoon everyone.

Sandy - dissappointing for you to find the new stove/oven not as you would expect it to be, especially since you would use it a lot for all the baking etc you do.

Around 29 degrees today but we have a strong sea breeze which makes it more bearable.. Tomorrow-  predicted 92% humiditiy...blah
