i may be the last to know, but I discovered something new today.
If I tap on the address line up there ^^^ then pull down the menu I get "request desktop site". Now I have the hover feature and access to all the emoticons.
Still think I need to go to chrome to post photos etc but it's better than nothing.

I don't have an ipad but do use my phone sometimes. I discovered this morning that I can get all features for full posting on it, apparently I was using mobile feature, lol. It was limited, no quotes, no emoticons..............
I am thinking about buying an ipad mini, is it much less useful than an ipad?

iPad minis to use are just smaller than an iPad. No real difference in how you can use it. Give it a test run with someone else's or in a store before you buy to see if the size suits you azurline. Think about how much storage you need, too. I was given the basic 15Gb one and as I am using it for work, with a lot of photos on it, it filled up pretty quickly.
You can run things on an iPad mini the same as on the full size one 🙂
