That was the filter idea, which while being a stupid idea was not an attempt to ban freedom of expression.  Fortunately he had the sense to listen and learn that it was not good policy.

Filters on porn? I don't have a problem with that. It's quite a bit less invasive than storage of everyone's metadata isn't it?

Filtering out information for is putting a limitation on the freedom of expression.

Conroy was howled down but Krudd was not and he paid the price.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

deb there is a mention of porn in that article but also included in that article is in appropriate material , which would open the the door to censorship of any kind

This article that you posted?

Telecommunications Minister Stephen Conroy says new measures are being put in place to provide greater protection to children from online pornography and violent websites.

Senator Conroy says it will be mandatory for all internet service providers to provide clean feeds, or ISP filtering, to houses and schools that are free of pornography and inappropriate material.

Online civil libertarians have warned the freedom of the internet is at stake, but Senator Conroy says that is nonsense.

He says the scheme will better protect children from pornography and violent websites.

PS. there was also an opt out provision.

the aticle says porn and violent websites..... and mentions filtering schools

thats a good thing, mainly to protect children from accidently wandering onto certain sites

in no way do I see that as an attack on my personal information or freedom

You seem rather fond of C&P'ing news articles today. I thought you had an aversion to them?. media hype was it? quote- only people without original thoughts post C&P news articles unquote

You can easily delete the big photos in them before you post.  Bold the title too. A link to the source of the article is appreciated.

That's not exactly what was done though.  The article about the filter didn't support the claim about an attempt to deny us freedom of expression.
