Chan was arrested on 17 April 2005 as he was seated on an Australian Airlines flight waiting to depart Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Indonesia, for Sydney.

He was arrested carrying three mobile phones and a boarding pass, however no drugs were found in his possession.

In 2005, Sukumaran was arrested in a room at the Melasti Hotel in Kuta with three others. Police found 334 g (11.8 oz) of heroin in a suitcase in the room.

I was replying to the quoted post.

Neither of the 2 facing the firing squad had heroin strapped to their bodies. That was not the charge, as I have copy/pasted above.

I am against the death penalty.

I am not against charges and prison sentences for drug trafficking................. but I am against the AFP's actions in this circumstance.

Doesn't matter, you have said you were against the death penalty.

The AFP will do it again, even though the guidelines are stricter.

They were 20 at the time, most of the mules were, we all must remember that.

I tend to agree with the post that said Mick Kelty should be held responsible for these killings. He contacted the Indonesian police to report these silly young people in the knowledge that they would be killed.

The Father of one of the 9 actually asked the Federal police for help to stop his young son from doing this deadly thing and Kelty then betrayed him by his actions.

I feel there is a lot of blame to share around for this and the Federal police and Kelty are just as culpable in this matter.

While I agree in the main with your post, the father should have dealt with his family's problems himself instead of expecting the AFP to do so. He had been enabling his son for years, and it shows to this day.

I saw that very creepy interview with that young man and his British lawyer lover.. He is so ravaged by drugs now his mind is ruined.

Scott Rush is not now facing the death penalty.

He has been in trouble since he was at school, year 10, drugs and expulsion from an elite school.

I guess his parents did what they thought was right, by contacting police
