Thanks Vic, I didn't realise about the training teams going back to Vietnam days.

The training teams in Vietnam went out with the troops.
They won two VC's in doing so.

So not going out will be the major difference.

CLIVE Palmer has suggested the Prime Minister “commit suicide” over his treatment of universities, and he’s being slammed for it.

During a press conference at Parliament House on the Australian economy, the Palmer United Party leader was expressing his opposition to the government’s tertiary education deregulation plans.

“There’s a million students going to tertiary education in this country, there’s a million more that’s about to go, and a million more that’s just left, they’ve all got parents,” he said.

“So commit suicide Tony Abbott, you know.”

Mr Palmer started laughing as he made the comment, and a Guardian journalist questioned whether he thought it was a respectable thing to say.

Mr Palmer responded, trying to clarify he meant “political suicide”.

“I was raising it because it was suicide, political suicide, to go against the will of what’s good for the Australian people.”

He later took to Twitter to further clarify his comments, and offer an apology.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Conscious of widespread anti-war sentiment, the government has sought to portray the deployment as a “non-combat” mission. Key said the troops would be stationed at Camp Taji, north of Baghdad, where they will work with Australian forces to train Iraqi army soldiers “behind the wire.” However, only 16 of the soldiers being sent are specialist trainers.

Considering that we, the USA and other nations, spent a decade training Iraqi army, and it fell apart the moment they spotted ISIS, isn't sending more people to train them rather futile excercise?
