It's not so much that they should teach intelligent design in science class or even at schools.  But they should teach kids to think critically about evolution so kids dont just use it as a way to rebel against religion.  Because thats what most kids did when I was learning about evolution in year 11 Biology.  It's taught to kids as though it's pure hard evidence that God doesn't exist simply because evolution does.  I agree that it's up to parents to teach their children about religion. But it shouldn't be up to the schools to indoctrinate with scientific theories of "what" to think.

If we don't teach scientific theories, what is there to teach then????  

Using your logic, if I said my God designed and created every animal and humans as they are in one day. Does my God exist? If you taught kids to think critically they would answer No, my God does not exist because evidence proves it to be wrong. 

Not sure what school you went to but I doubt very much that even a mention of 'god' comes up in a science class on biological evolution. There is really no need for it to be addressed.

It certainly isn't part of the curriculum in public schools unless part of religion. Ad even then I am sure they aren't allowed to promote it.

Teaching them is one thing indoctrinating with theory relayed as hard fact is something completely different.  And it's starting from as early as grade 5.  Tell me whats the point of teaching a grade 5 student, who has no real knowledge of biology let alone has a clue about how cells work, the concept of evolution?
