A little more contxet wouldn't go astray...there are truly many angles on such a sweeping statement.

Donna, indigenous people have been displaced since Captain Cook and his cronies set foot on this land.

All our build-up areas, cities and towns were once occupied by different tribes of native people.

The problem is that the Federal Govt has cut funding as of next year and the states will have to find their own funding.

Not a major issue for states like NSW where indigenous communities are relatively well serviced and there aren't that many of them (relatively speaking).

But in states like WA where there are more communities and they are spread out further dut to the size of the state, the state govts have already said that once the Federal Govt dries up, then they are not prepared to fund them.

So while the state Premiers are saying they have no choice as they won't have the money, Abbott is saying indigenous people won't be moved from their traditional lands and Scullion is saying he doesn't understand why state leaders are saying they need to close these communities down.

Obviously the latter two politicians are complete dumbnuts to think that they can take away essential funding and expect life to carry on as normal.

I apologise if I was not clear,  I watched Coling Barnett saying he was not to protestors, why are they demonstrating if they are not closing down remote communities http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/aboriginal-community-closure-intense-rally-at-parliament-house-201...

Specifically this:

"I actually applaud you for coming here today.

"Can I say to you no Aboriginal people will be forced from their lands...no Aborginal people will be forced from their communities.

"People will not be forced from their tradtional lands."
