What this rally is about (I hope) is pointing out the obvious as per the following analogy.
If I choose to live in India or anywhere else in the world, then I do so to be a part of that lifestyle and culture. I would not do so with a view to attempt to change the country I am going to make my home, because where I came from is not where I prefer to be.
I think you miss the point.
Thank goodness for all those foreigners who couldn't change when they arrived in Australia.
The Irish Catholics, Greek Orthodox, Italian Catholics, Latvian Protestants, Lebanese Muslims, Chinese Bhuddists, Russian Jews, Indian Hindus/Sikhs.
With all their different foods. And music. And values. And language. And dress. And skills. And history. And culture.
What a sad, sad place this country would be if you lot had their way.
And using the example of "if you go to India, you would reject your own culture" example is just plain dumb. You would fit it as much as possible WITHOUT LOSING YOUR OWN IDENTITY.
I have lived in other countries. I NEVER lost my Australian-ness. More importantly I celebrated it.

I think it's really hard for people who haven't had the migrant experience to understand that.

Pauline Hanson, the One Nation political party leader, spoke in Brisbane, saying the media had wrongly portrayed the rally as racist.
She said: “I’m not a racist — criticism is not racism. I am a proud Australian fighting for our democracy, culture, and way of life. This rally being held across our nation today was called out of sheer frustration from ordinary Australians who fear for the future of our nation and the mindset of our politicians who don’t appear to be listening.”

I can't find the thread I started yesterday about protests. Can anyone point me to it, please?

It was there this morning, I went out, and poof, it is gone.
Hanson was on the news last night screaming her special hatred and bigotry.

Thanks. I thought I must have missed seeing it among the rest of the threads 😄
I don't know why it's gone. I don't think it was breaking any rules.

I was at the Reclaim Aust Rally yesterday in Adelaide. There was no violence (as is being reported on the news). There was a group of approx 1000 Reclaimers in front of Parliament House and a group of approx 20 hippy looking weidos across the road yelling abuse.
The Reclaim Rally is not racist, is not against immigration and is not against Muslims.
What it, and I are against is extremist Muslims and the changing of Australia. These are the points I support
* To stop any enforcing of Sharia law throughout the whole of Australia. To make Sharia Law illegal in every State and Territory.
* Keep our traditional values ie. Christmas, Easter, Australia Day, Anzac Day and other beliefs a large number of Australians have grown up with.
* Halal certification should be banned and made illegal. (if not banned, then control should be handed over to the government so it isn't a moneymaking scheme for islam).
* Introduce pride in the Australian flag and Anthem at all levels of schooling.
* Ban the teaching of Islam in government schools.
* Ban FGM and introduce mandatory 10 year jail terms for perpetrators and organisers. This includes those who send girls overseas to have FGM carried out outside Australia. Once their jail term has been completed, their citizenship should be cancelled and they be immediately deported back to the country they originated from.
* Stop Centrelink recognising polygamy and only recognise the first marriage for benefits.
The violence that was at some of the other rallys around Aust was actualy by the rent a crowd mobs that were throwing manure at police, spitting on people and burning flags, not those who were there for the Reclaim Rally.
Have a nice day

And another lovely group of old men.
Their message is a little strange though. Our "Freedom" does not exist because we have no Sharia Law. It's our constitution and democracy that gives us the "freedom" we mostly enjoy. And I'm curious to know when muslim Australians tried to change our laws. Perhaps it's just a warning in case they try to change our laws like the migrants before them.
