I used to hear about brownies on American TV shows and always wanted to try them.   And when I did finally get to try them I founf them to be better than I ever imagined.  My kind of slice/cake/bikkie combo, they are.

Brownies are the best thing ever invented. Even the boxed brownie mixes turn out wonderful. I use one egg, instead of two. It makes them slightly gooey, less cake-like. I don't like over-cooked brownies. 

You can make brownies from scratch. If you have never tried a brownie, I highly recommend it. 

Here is one recipe. I don't understand why they say to frost them. That isn't standard. I also add crushed walnuts to my brownies. 

Don't expect them to rise like a cake. They are not light and fluffy. In fact, they should be soft and dense in the middle.

Yep, that's exactly what I love about them.  I've tried some very good packet ones and tried some at home with chocolate in them.  Heavenly.  Yes, I agree they are one of the best things ever invented.  😄  Definitely the best cooked thing ever.

Yes, when I first tried making them years ago they just didn't seem 'right' to what we were used to having - biscuits/cookies (crispy) or cake texture.

I got over that though now.. I like Brownies.. but don't eat them very often. Gloria Jean's cafe have nice ones. Homemade ones are delish.

Even biscuits/cookies that are soft in texture is  more American style than the crisp ones we were used to.

Yep, I like the American style with the soft centres more than the crunchy crumbly Aussie style bikkies.

If we're going to start talking about local foods, and especially at this time of year, you should try ANZAC biscuits.  Yum, yum.

We have a lot of Pizza places..apart from really delicious Italian restaurants that often have wood fired ovens, theres Pizza Hut, Dominos and other smaller chains too.

Yes, it is minced turkey meat. It is becoming more popular. People are using it for tacos, meatloaf, and I make that asian type dish that I posted above. It is quite bland if it isn't spruced up a bit. Our stores sell it already ground, in packages. 

Back on Pizzas--im ashamed to tell our US friends about an Aussie Pizza

I love the pickle on Burgers, we have Burger King here and if I give the grand children a treat I take them and they give me all their pickles.
