Dogs in apartments. Fair?

New laws about to be introduced to allow dogs in apartments. Previously it was a matter the corporate body making the decision.

On the one hand I say it should be OK.

But on the other hand I wonder if it is fair to the animal (I can't imagine a large dog being cooped up inside all day without a yard) and is it fair to neighbours?

I think its fair.

My dog lives in an apartment and is just as happy as when we lived in a house and when we lived in a flat.

😞  I'm the one who has to get up and take him in the elevator to go outside for morning wee in the cold!!! that sucks!

But you have small dogs crystal.

What about a doberman or a lab?

I think any dog could adjust but there are exceptions of course, I wouldn't like to see a working dog in a unit.

Then you have for example a great dane, they would be very happy in a unit.

In the apartment building my daughter lives in Syd, one of the apartments residents has a cute dog (I am sure dogs aren't allowed). The apartment she has just moved into in the same building, they have a cat (again not sure if that is allowed either).

I don't really know that it is a good thing.. If they are taking out regularly for walks maybe..can't compare to a dog having a back yard to run around in at will.

Then there is the barking issue? Annoying to apartment dwellers next door.

I wouldn't keep a dog in a flat, or any other animal, for that matter.

Not fair on the animal and not fair on the other tenants IMO.

depends on many factors....
