Not to forget how the unions blackmailed the govt for more and higher wages, OHWS went into overdrive to gouge more money and impose crippling workpractices, unions workers went on go slow for years so the money would pour into their pockets.

The criminal practices of the unions on that project staggers the mind and yet Victorians voted in another Lab govt, Hope they get what they voted for because the unions sure are.

Are you offering this as proof that climate change is not occurring, or is it merely an off-topic rant

This type of behaviour has been mentioned on the Use words Wisely thread and how certain members flame a topic to disrupt.

Is that what you were doing? I thought maybe you just got sidetracked.

Except for poddy, like an obelisk he stands firm,  unmoved by all the flying brown stuff 🙂

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Meantime, while we're paying out such huge sums for a facility that's been mothballed, we have no facility to capture excess rainwater. We let it run out to sea, so in times of future drought, we can haul it in and desalinate it at great expense.

How loopy is that?

So what would you like to do? Bulldoze a suburb (or 5) and build a dam? And how many dams do we need to build to tide us through longer and longer periods of drought? And more dams bring their own ecologic and environmental disasters.

As I keep saying, desal is the last resort but it is the only solution Australians are prepared to accept

The logical solution is to recycle effluent waste as this is a commodity that is never ending. But it has never been a viable or successful option in this country. But I suspect that in 50-60 years time when it becomes obvious that this is the inevitable solution and the technology has caught up, we will all be saying "Can you believe they didn't do this earlier?".

And yet the warmists ignore this FACT a FACT that NSW taxpayers are going to be shafted for the next 50 years thanks to Labor and Tim Flannery.

Please explain how NSW taxpayers are being shafted by Labor.

And please explain exactly what role Flannery played in the construction of the desal plant at Kurnell?

And while you are at it please explain the short term and long term financial implications that NSW taxpayers faced when the desalination plant, an asset, was sold by the Liberal Government?

I think you need to revist what you know of this plant.

The problem here was not higher wages for unions (where did that even come from???) but the government allowing overseas companies and a banking giant with a big corporate legal team to create a consortium for the construction. Do you seriously think that a consortium like this would care about the importance of water to a state? I think the government (and it was that Labor dud Brumby) have a lot to answer for here.

And where would we store the water reclaimed from effluent?
