Not to cast aspersions on any lifestyle choice or religion I believe products that have this certification is garnering  money that goes to support a religion that a lot of people do not adhere to and do not want to support.

If the  certification is so important to the Muslim religion then why are producers being charged for it? it should carry no charge.

and why are some products that are paying the halal certification fees choosing not display the stamp on their products? How is that helping Muslims make the right choices?

Maybe the companies want their bread buttered on both sides, gaining the market for halal-compliant foods while at the same time concealing the halal-cerification label so as to continue to sell to non-Muslims who probably aren't even aware that they are buying halal-certified food?

LOL.

what on earth are you talking about?

I drink water, but not because it is "halal" or permissable.

You said 'to me water is not 'halal'. The word halal means permissable. Therefore, what you are actually saying is  "to me, water is not permissable.  (i.e. I am not allowed to drink it),"

Manufacturing processes, plastics used....... why shouldn't they if they think it necessary.

Very enlightening articles, obviously we all need to educate ourselves a lot more rather than believe politicians and media propaganda.

There was an article on TV about a Queensland farmer who is getting very rich by breeding and exporting goats.

As far as I know, there has been nothing about their treatment at the destinations yet.

I would guess it would be the same.

Let's face it, if you eat meat or animal-derived products, you are legitimising and condoning cruelty.

It doesn't matter whether an animal is killed in a manner to be compliant with Muslim, Jewish or any other religious or societal practices, it is still killed.  If its throat is cut, or it gets shot, or gets a bolt to the head, or a massive hook in its mouth and its head cut off, it is still being killed.

I defy anyone to tell me that the most "humane" animal killing factories (some call them abbatoirs) do not inflict fear and pain on animals.

Picking on the bogeyman (today it's the Muslims) only serves to show what a shallow mob we are by turning a blind eye to the deliberate cruelty inflicted on animals by people of just about every creed, colour, religion and nationality, including ourselves.  It makes us feel good about ourselves when we can pick on another mob we deem to be doing it in a worse way.

Yep, big pat on the back and warm fuzzies for us now that we have spoken out about ritual Halal slaughter - at the same time ignoring our own horrific treatment of animals.  Hypocrisy anyone ?
