I'm not surprised there is a thickening of the ice given the winter in the north went so far beyond the expected pattern to become one of the worst winters on record.

No global warming for 17 years 8 months

From Nero's link..........

"4: The graph is news. Not only is it very recent: it is also something that the mainstream news media very seldom reveal.

They tend to keep the now embarrassingly long hiatus in global warming secret.".....

siggie-reported-by-alarmists..............

Was it only a year or so ago that we read:

"They seem to forget that there hasnt been any warming for

No global warming for 17 years 8 months"

I commented then on the strange (selective) time period and that the start was 2008/2009 (a very warm El Nino event).

However the cries of the deniers have been muted by continuing records indicating what most accept, we ARE warming.

Why bring this up?  Well there is currently a lot of hot air being generated apropos emission reduction targets to be discussed soon in Paris, and I have formed the opinion that our politicians are somewhat  out of touch with the topic,  or are prepared to feed  us (many of whom know as much)  tripe.

Recently  Mathias Cormann said     "Emissions were falling before the carbon tax came into effect and we were meeting our Kyoto targets well before the carbon tax came into effect,"

However one might consider that our earlier Kyoto target allowed for an increase in carbon emissions:

"Australia has met its Kyoto Protocol target of limiting emissions to 108% of 1990 levels, on average, over the Kyoto period 2008–2012. Over the five reporting years in the Kyoto period (2008 to 2012), Australia's net emissions averaged 103% of the base year level."

I do not consider there is a snowball's chance in a carbon fired hell of us reducing our GHG emissions 26-28%  by 2030  (just our population will have increased then by 5,000,000) and average global temperatures will most probably  remain on trend and continue rising.  Meanwhile politicians can promise us targets and intentions,  relying on a distant future where they will not be called to task.

Perhaps the "deniers"  will now revert to  a winter chant of:   "no warming since last summer" !

I saw the BS live telecast with Hunt,Abbott and Bishop on the ABC this afternoon and that was all it was.BS.It's pretty easy to make promises that far ahead.Any bets the temp. increase will be greater than than 2c by 2100?

Im so relieved that we have a responsible government who are dealing with “ climate change ” that will not beggar our country and destroy jobs.

Both parties give the impression that GHG emissions are nothing more than a political football game played by  3rd division  teams before a poorly  informed electorate.

If Australia doubled or halved its annual carbon emissions,  it would make no perceptible difference to atmospheric CO2 concentration.

The original Kyoto (1997) and subsequent climate talk-fests have had no effect on the inexorable  rise in atmospheric CO2 , and in fact the annual variation is accelerating.
