My uncle married a divorced Catholic woman. She would have loved to have been married in Church - even though the Catholic Church frowned upon her, she never lost her faith - but could not due to her being a divorcee. They had a lovely garden wedding instead without the religious claptrap. This was over 40 years ago.

That's lovely Bluecat, I'm so glad to know she was able to find happiness again, in spite of the church.
It just shows that people can have faith without the man made garbage that goes with it xxx

It was lovely. Her former husband was a violent alcoholic, which is why she divorced him, it was a shame that she was "punished" for doing so.
The most beautiful religious wedding that I went to was a buddhist one. There were a few Greek Orthodox ones that were pretty impressive, too.

I'd love to go to one of those Bluecat, maybe one day xxx
Some years ago, I sat in on a world religions course for a couple of years at uni, it looked at all kinds of religions and the cultures associated with them, interesting, but a few of them were very disturbing and somewhat frightening in their demands.

The "church" couldn't/can't stop anyone from obtaining a divorce, however, those within the "church" were terrified to do so, lest the "wrath of god" come upon them ... The RC church is/was very good at bullying those who follow/followed this corrupt denomination, not much has changed these days, they just are better at hiding it lol

It must be pretty terrible to be under that belief, and to feel that way. Definitely not what I would call a true representation of what is supposed to be a religion based on love and tolerance, but, then, that is one of the problems with organised religion. Power and control seems to take precedence over love.
I'm not, unlike others, an expert but only repeated what I was told.

No I don't mean that, and I think if you do your research you will find most 'religions' had/have their share of ped ministers. The catholic church in particular has moved vastly forward from the horrible dark ages of 40 years ago but unfortunately too many people are ignorant of that and prefer to cling to outdated beliefs. .

not sure what the statistics are regarding
institutional responses to child sexual abuse
but most of child sex abusers are family
members.
