I've never seen the point in having a Facebook page, but if I did, my Facebook name would be "No One", and I'd spend my time liking people's statuses...

Alice was one of a kind.

On one occasion she stayed the night and I said that she could sleep in the main bedroom, as I'd made up a bed in the spare room.

She looked at me in that way that only she could, and said "Darling...", she always called me darling, and often looked at me in that way, ha ha, "You could say that you're going to sleep on the couch, if you wanted to... There's no need to create imaginary furniture just for my sake...".

Make up a bed...

Oh dear, I should have seen that coming... ha ha.

Three old man cockatoos came in this morning...

One had been here a couple of days ago.

He must've been impressed by the place because he brought his friends, ha ha.

He's a sight. There's no other way of putting it...

He's managed to strip all the feathers from the base of his neck down to his shoulders, all the way around, so there's a 2 centimetre strip of bright pink bare skin contrasting against the feathers...

Think of it as a reverse Elizabethan ruff collar, ha ha.

He seems to be quite happy with life, it's just that he's a startling sight.

One of the other old men looks like an old man cockatoo - he's got that unironed, rumpled look.

All you'd have to do is look at him and you'd say "Yep, that's and old man cockatoo...", he's unmistakable, ha ha.

Then there's the third one... He shuffled around a bit, then settled, perched on the edge of the table and gave an impressive demonstration of a marathon nap.

By my count, something of the order of four hours, but I was out at one point, so maybe he moved and then moved back while I wasn't watching, ha ha.

That bird who's a sight, the one with the not Elizabethan ruff collar...

Did I say he's a sight?

He's been busy since yesterday...

Now, he's carved out a nice little V shape between his shoulders...

And stripped almost his entire front - chest and belly...

He's got new growth feathers coming through - they're stubbly little white things.

They contrast against his bright pink skin and at the moment he looks like a strawberry lamington, ha ha.

I stood under the great green canopy in the garden as the rain fell...

And stayed dry...

Everything grew in spite of the rain that never came.

And when the rain did come, everything grew, more...

It's raining again, today...

I wonder if I should take the secateurs with me when I go out into the garden next...

Or just take the hedge shears... ha ha.
