It was good and cold this morning... the bird baths froze... only about a quarter of a centimetre, but that's quite enough... ha ha.
I was tempted to leave the big bird bath frozen... the sparrows were having such a great time with their Torville and Dean routine that it seemed almost unfair to spoil their fun, ha ha.
I knew that it was cold... both old men climbed up onto the fence and amused me through the morning as they slowly made their way along it, taking full advantage of the warm sunlight... ha ha.
I'll have to sound them out about the aluminium step ladder - if I can find a pretty close to optimum sun catching spot in the garden, I'll have to set it up for them, ha ha.

The old man bird sat on the bench armrest and I put down some sunflower kernels in a plastic lid for him...
Peck... peck... peck... followed by a sideways swipe of the beak to stir up the contents of the lid... ha ha...
I saw the lid heading for the edge of the armrest and reached out and grabbed it before it fell, finger and thumb either side...
It was meant to be a helpful gesture, but he didn't take it that way... ha ha...
He grabbed the lid with his claw...
And my thumb with his beak...
Firmly...
"You let go of My lid, and I'll let go of your thumb...", ha ha...
I let go of the lid... it seemed the sensible thing to do... ha ha...
