If you have nothing to say

Say nothing

If you have nothing to do

Do something

If the cap fits

Wear it

If you know something nice

Share it

Never say I cant, I wont, and not try;

And let all things in life  pass you by

If you have someone to love

Love them

If people reach out to you

Hug them

If you believe in something

Fight

Never give up your right

 dont look back with regret, remorse and dismay

At all things you could have done the right way

We were driving up from Woolongong

Along the ocean road,

When I spied a strange sight down on the beach;

That had gathered quite a crowd.

An enormous whale, beached on the sand;

rancid and rather smelly;

Three astronauts with full regalia

Were prodding at its belly.

So we parked the car on the roadside;

and raced down for a better look.

Through a thicket, on a large hill,

and what little time it took.

Fearless, I asked what was happening;

What this unusual ensemble meant;

They were scientists from the CSIRO,

taking samples for an experiment.

We hung around and chewed some fat,

With the other lookers on,

not realizing how late it was;

till the sun was nearly gone.

We turned to leave, retrace our steps,

when I realized our fate,

The hill we slid down, was a bloody great mountain,

No track. No lift. Oh great!

So I mustered some courage as best I could,

Said come on kids, we can make it;

With scratches and bumps, and a dreadful fear,

how brave you can be when you fake it.

Slowly, slowly, we scrambled back up,

about halfway up found the track,

but I was starting to worry, if we didnt hurry,

we would never find our way back.

My eldest sat down and wouldn't budge,

The things that went on in my mind.

I'd carried her before, this time , unsure

Up a mountain, in the dark, on a 45 degree incline.

So I broke a switch off the nearest bush

and yelled get up,get up,keep going,

I wacked her butt every time she slowed down,

amid cusses and moaning and groaning.

Well, finally we reached the top,

we had lived to.tell the tale,

about the day l turned into the meanest mum,

For the sake of a wretched whale.

THE END

we have reminisced about this event many

Times over the years

All is forgiven

OOps - OP:

Well, that is surprising - mind you it can be spelt 30 different ways - everyone still knows what & where it is.

The beauty of the local wattlebird is that you'd barely know he was there, most of the time.

He's not a "singer". He does, however, have a characteristic harsh, rasping "alarm" call; if he sees a cat, he makes the noise.

Fair enough.

Just on dusk, last night, I hear him out the front, rasping away, so I went out ready to wave my arms and look like an idiot, shooing the cat away. But there was no cat... (Which is probably a good thing, as the sight of me standing in the front garden waving my arms around like an idiot can't do much for the real estate values, ha ha).

There was, however, an early rising possum, half way up the tree, looking harassed (poor thing).

The wattlebird doesn't make a distinction - it's hairy, it's about the right size, and he doesn't like it.

All the grounds he needs to kick up a fuss. Smiley LOL

They're a weird mob, here.

I'd miss the poetry if it wasn't here, and the reason I'm so sweet is that it keeps people guessing as to what it is I'm Really thinking (Evil Laugh). Smiley LOL
