JD, it's a nikon 105mm f/2.8 micro (macro) .
I love it to pieces but it's tricky to focus on macro stuff, the slightest movement will put the subject out of focus.
I'm thinking about getting a nikkor 17-55 mm next.
Was it you that bought a new lens recently?

One of the problems with macro photography is that the depth of focus is so narrow. It's hard to get accurate focus when you're that close. It's likely not the lens but simply a function of macro work. Yeah, I picked upi that Vivitar 28mm f2 close focusing lens recently. It's a terrific lens. I did go use it yesterday.
