Cosmo, I find that I can do *some* things ... others not.  So, I think we can all do artistic stuff, but maybe not all artistic stuff.  For example, I can make miniature pictures using tiny diamantes, but I can't draw.  With direction and help, I can paint ... a little.  There is no way in the world that I could sculpt, but I have a kit for making resin jewellery that I really should get round to playing with.

As for learning an instrument ... LOL, I can tune a guitar, but me playing Chopsticks on the piano tends to sound like the Death March ...

Don't look for any works of art from me. I am the only person I know who failed shorthand because she couldn't draw the little squiggles properly.:-(

Yes, but you do awesome poetry ! That is an art

You can't please all the people all the time, so now I just please myself

But that's what I mean, if you really wanted to learn to draw you can, it might be hard and may not come easily to you but if you persisted, took lessons, studied, your drawing would improve.

You may never be a beautifully accomplished drawer but you will be able to draw. Don't lose sight of the fact that the biggest joy in art is in the creating of the piece, it's the doing that brings the most intense feelings.

Oh and I love the Bob Dylan caricature up there, brilliant 🙂

You could be right - like my drawing

It is an elephant

:^O :^O :^O

"I can tune a guitar, but me playing Chopsticks on the piano tends to sound like the Death March"

Don't feel too badly Katy, I tried to play the clarinet for a while but after biting my way through half a dozen reeds and never getting a sound, it was decided the flute would be a better option ... :^O

Cosmo, you may be right, and I may be able to become a more accomplished drawer, but I will never be really good at it.  So, being a bit of an egomaniac, I would rather concentrate on things that I CAN be GOOD at.  Because I KNOW that there are things that I AM good at 🙂

Funny enough, I've done some good caricatures in the past ... but in most other areas of drawing, I'm at the stick figure stage 🙂

Fleur, I think at the age of 50something, it's a good thing I know my limitations 🙂 but it's also good to know that I can start to explore the artistic side of me that I've blocked out for 3 decades.

I've never drawn anything in my life. This is the first time that I will be giving it a go. 🙂

I've spent a day being indecisive about whether a human or an animal would be too difficult for me to draw, but I have just decided that Bella from the Twilight movies would be a good model for a first attempt. Wish me luck. 🙂

I think whatever you have the motivation to do and explore Katy, will turn out to be fabulous, I'm sure of it xx

Moonlight ... I had to adjust my attitude from "I am good at this" to "I am playing at this and it is fun".  I had to come to the realisation that it was more about doing than succeeding, more about playing than making a profit ... the fun was in the creating.  I became ridiculously reluctant to sell the creations 🙂

(((Fleur))) what have you been up to?
