Haven't read this whole thread Margo, but I'm a born and bred Newcastle gal!

Loves it here, though it does seem to be filling up with unemployed bogans......much to my OH's dismay. It's changed a lot since I was a child - in my opinion, not all for the better either, but hey it's sad to see a once proud town die slowly from the inside out.

Still, I wouldn't raise my children anywhere else, my OH is originally from Sydney - he's a lot more "multicultural" aware so thought...actually still thinks Newcastle is a place full of "rednecks". Funny, he's a blonde haired - blue eyed angel, and I'm the eurasian, so on a superficial level, people would probably think I'm the outsider and he's the novocastrian lolz!
I'd rather be hated for who/what I am rather than be loved for what I'm not.

NSW rules...LOL

Im in Orange...(central west)

lovely area, not hot, which i love as im a bit like DDU and cant stand the heat LOL (all puns intended LOL)

I have a lot of family scattered around Sydney and travel that way a bit. 🙂

however, i do love Tasmania and would absolutley move there tomorrow if i could 🙂

Hi Cheekyone I always liked Newcastle when I went to visit lots of lovely places there.

There are a few people in the thread from up there you should get together for a meet. 😄

Yes, Margo, I love how it was, not sure about where it's going, but as I said, it's a great place to raise your children.

There are pretty places, I just wish there a was a bit more for the kids to do as there seems to be a lot of them that congregate in areas on the street. There should be something more for them to go to like big community halls etc, to get them off the streets and keep them out of mischief.
I'd rather be hated for who/what I am rather than be loved for what I'm not.

I know what you mean cheeky things have changed so much,

Down here they seem to be making more parks and preserving more land.

"I'm up here on the Central Coast of NSW, God's own country!!!"

I thought you "believers" considered everything was "God's"

Unless of course one lacks confidence and needs local support, or religious!

Sorry! ...but we had a power failure here.(I think we have been ex-communicated from the mainland). Oxley Island is about 10 k`s east of Taree on the Manning River. And yes,...it`s true,...you don`t have to be mad to live here,...but it helps! Anyway, best wishes to all and all the very best for the New Year:8}B-)
